Twenty Things

Twenty things you probably don’t know about me and probably don’t want to know but I’m going to tell you anyway. k-green

    1. I do not like white chocolate but I love milk chocolate. I love dark chocolate even more than I love milk chocolate.DSC_0363
    2. Honey, my miniature spoodle puppy, likes to run away when you say come, rip up the grass in the garden, sniff smelly socks, chew shoes and steal human food when no-one is watching. She was also bottom of the class at puppy school.
    3. My son Ben has always been the shortest boy in his class. This year he is the second shortest boy in his class. Next year he hopes to be the third shortest boy in his class. He is 16 years old.k-blue
    4. My daughter Isabel is three years younger than Ben but she is only a teensy bit shorter than him. Next year she hopes to be a tinnsy bit taller than him. If you are good at maths you have probably worked out Isabel is 13 years old.
    5. My husband Mihai likes to wear daggy, old men’s clothes because he says they are more comfortable than trendy young men’s clothes. He is particularly fond of the Harry High pants look.DSC_0338
    6. My sister Donna likes children so she decided to have five of them. I think she made a mistake. Children are lots of work and they are sometimes mean to their parents. I do not like mean people even if they are little and cute. I decided to stop at two children when I discovered this fact.
    7. I have three younger brothers, Brendon, Chris and Mark, who do not like me organising their lives. This is fine by me but they will have to pick up the pieces when I am not there to tell them what to do.k-pink
    8. My father Don is a child and animal magnet. This means children and animals are attracted to him. I do not understand why because he doesn’t do much except eat, sleep and watch too much TV.
    9. My mother-in-law Rodica, lives in Romania. When she comes to visit it is good because she cooks for the family and I do not like cooking. She cooks yummy food which is also good because my cooking is not so yummy.DSC_0347
    10. My mother’s parents, Ronnie and Harry, died not too long ago. They were married for nearly 70 years! I don’t know if I could put up with my husband for that long. Maybe I’d feel differently if he bought some trendy young men’s clothes.
    11. My friends tell me I think about things too deeply, ask too many questions and I am overly sensitive. I tell them I am a writer so what do they expect.
    12. I belong to a group of women writers. We are called the Lazy River Writers but we are not lazy. We meet once a month to talk about and workshop our writing. We also go on retreats, eat lots of chocolate and just have fun. All of these things are good.k-orange
    13. I do not like modern technology much because I cannot turn on the TV without a remote, and the remote has too many buttons for me to work out which one is the ON button. I am lucky my children know how to work the remote or I would not be able to watch TV.
    14. This year we built a new house. The garden is much smaller than the one we had. Isabel is worried Honey will get bored because she won’t have as much grass to rip up.
    15. In our new house I have a study with a door and a lock. I lock this door so my family cannot come in. I am hoping to buy an old fashioned TV that does not have a remote and keep it in this study. I will watch this TV when I cannot think of anything to write.DSC_0351
    16. I would like to learn to play the harp, jump out of a plane (with a parachute), go parasailing, write 30 more children’s books and visit Santa on one of his days off. I plan to do these things before I am 80. As I only have 30 years to achieve these goals I guess I should get a move on.
    17. I do not like comparing myself to other children’s authors because most of them write much faster than me. Sometimes it takes me all day just to get one word on the page. This is not good if you have deadlines to meet.k-purple
    18. When people ask me why I like to write I tell them I don’t (because I am so slow). Then they ask me why I write if I don’t like it. I tell them I like challenges.
    19. When people ask me where I get my ideas about what to write I tell them they’re just there when I wake up. Sometimes I wish my ideas would go away and let me have a sleep in.
    20. When people ask me what makes a good writer I tell them I don’t know. When they look surprised, I say there are lots of books to read and courses to go to that might answer their question.DSC_0099
